The coal mill dynamic separator is mainly used as classification equipment in the coal powder preparation (grinding) system of cement plants.
Materials enter the separator along with airflow through the air inlet duct, pass through the gap between the inner and outer cones to the upper part of the housing, change direction via guide vanes to form rotating airflow and enter the rotor. Materials are classified under the combined action of rotating airflow and rotor rotation. Qualified materials (fine powder) are drawn into the rotor with airflow, discharged through the air outlet, and collected as finished products by the subsequent dust collection equipment. Unqualified materials (coarse powder) are collected by the inner cone of the separator and sent back to the mill through the return chute for re-circulation.

Working Principle
Air carrying materials from the air swept mill enters the separator through the lower air duct. After rectification by the inner cone, the airflow rises at a reduced speed through the annular passage between the outer cone and inner cone. Coarse powder settles by gravity and slides along the wall of the outer cone into the coarse powder collecting cylinder to complete gravity separation. After gravity separation, the airflow carrying material particles forms a stable horizontal vortex classification zone between the guide vanes and rotor under the guidance of guide vanes and rotation of the rotor. Dust particles moving in the vortex are subjected to gravity, air buoyancy and rotating centrifugal force at the same time. Fine and light particles are sucked into the rotor together with airflow, flow through the air outlet pipe and enter the subsequent dust collector to be separated as finished fine powder. Coarse and heavy particles fall down, converge through the inner cone into the coarse powder collecting cylinder and return to the mill for regrinding. Adjusting the rotor speed can effectively regulate the fineness of finished products.
The coal mill dynamic separator generally consists of feeding device, distributing plate, guide vanes, rotating rotor, coarse powder collecting cone, medium coarse powder collecting ring, fine powder outlet and housing. Among these components, the rotating rotor is the core part. It normally adopts a cage structure and is driven by a variable frequency motor to achieve precise speed regulation.
